Ford vehicles with SYNC 3 infotainment system now gets a voice-powered driving assistant by Sygic. Developed with an aim to make everyday commute safer and uncomplicated, the Driving Assistant is an interactive co-driver feature that allows drivers to ask about nearby rest-stops, restaurants, hotels, and even traffic jams along route. The driver can do all of this via a voice command without having to take his hands off the steering wheel.
The feature can be activated with just a tap of a button on the steering wheel. Thereby allowing the driver to use voice commands like ‘Find a hotel/Find a petrol station/Find a restaurant, or How is traffic ahead?’ The app reportedly responds in one of the 24 selectable languages. The Sygic Car Navigation App is based on the company’s Smart Device Link (SDL) technology which operates seamlessly with Ford’s Sync 3 AppLink vehicle touchscreen. As for Sygic’s premium users, the company offers additional features in form of Fuel Assistant, which advises when the gas tank is low, and a Tire Pressure Assistant that warns of low tire pressure and directs drivers to the nearest service station.
Speaking about the Driving Assistant feature, Francisc Juras, Automotive Product Manager at Sygic said, “The new feature is like having a friend in the passenger seat helping you navigate and keeping you safe. Without ever having to take your eyes off the road or your hands off the wheel, the navigation app will take you to the nearest rest area or gas station, redirect you away from a traffic jam, or take you to that specific restaurant you’re requesting.”
