Ford launched the EcoSport as we know it, in 2012 for the Brazilian market, and has been doing well since then. Nevertheless, rumours have now surfaced on the internet that this compact SUV will soon undergo its first visual upgrade this year.
However, the real surprise is that it’s been speculated that Ford in Brazil is already working on the next generation of its compact SUV, and this is even before releasing the facelifted version of the current model. The all new generation EcoSport is scheduled to hit markets in 2019 and is built on an all new platform. Sources have added that the new model is also slated to be introduced in a pickup version to cater to the recently warmed up ‘mid-size’ pickup segment. This new segment was created by Renault with their Duster Oroch, and the coming weeks will see the premiere of Fiat’s new Toro truck.
Ford Brazil is expected to continue producing these EcoSport versions at their plant in Camacari. Stay tuned to Carwale for more information on this.
