Following complaints from owners of the PowerShift automatic versions of the Focus, Fiesta and EcoSport, Ford Brazil has confirmed that it is working on calling all owners for repairs.
Ford has added that they will notify all owners of the affected vehicles (2013, 2014 built Fiesta and EcoSport, 2014 made Focus) and inform them of the necessary repairs to sort out the transmission failures they’ve been experiencing. Main problems include excessive vibration, noise and overheating in the system. These problems, according to consumers, lead to premature clutch replacements and in severe cases, a lag for the box to respond. There’ve been cases of engine power loss and full system crash too.
Ford did not say what repairs will be made but admitted that all the cars involved will now sport an extended factory warranty, from three to five years (or 1,60,000km). Cars that have exceeded the mileage limit before the three-year warranty will also be repaired and all costs will be borne by the carmaker.
