A test mule of the new Ford Aspire face-lift has been spotted at a dealership revealing the introduction of an automatic option for the first time on the compact sedan. The new Ford Aspire is expected to be launched in June.
This is a mild-facelift of sorts given that the slatted grille has now been replaced by a honey-comb mesh grille and the headlamps now have Freestyle like internal layout. The bumper with the round fog-lamps looks almost similar to the previous one, but might have a few changes. The tail section also looks pretty much the same but the tail lamps might get tweaked as well.
On the inside, it gets black and beige interior for the Titanium trim that was spotted. It also gets the tablet-screen from the Ecosport. The interior picture also revealed an automatic gearbox. Now, Ford might offer the 121bhp 1.5-litre Ti-VCT setup from the Ecosport and that will make the Aspire a hot hatch, except for the little boot. But, realistically, you can expect the automatic to be tuned for the 87bhp 1.2-litre engine that is already being offered. The 1.5-litre diesel manual will certainly continue to be on the list.
Ford launched the Freestyle last month and it undercuts the Figo as well as the Aspire and we think that it might turn out to be the end of the road for the Figo hatchback. Which is why the ‘Figo Aspire’ badge might have made its way back to the Aspire.
