Ford has announced a limited edition of its highly successful EcoSport compact crossover which prospective buyers can book through Ford’s Facebook page of their own country. As the name suggests, it has a limited run of 500 units of which only 120 RHD models will go to the UK.
Special features on this limited edition include auto-dimming OVRMs, SYNC technology, automatic headlights, 17-inch alloy wheels and a 12 month subscription to audioteka audiobook service. It has been painted in a shade dubbed Panther Black.
The engine line up and the underpinnings are all expected to remain the same as before and this means the 1.0-litre Ecoboost engine, 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines from the Ford Fiesta. Transmission options include a five-speed manual or a six-speed dual clutch automatic (petrol only) These are the same power trains offered globally and India due to the EcoSport being a ‘Ford One’ global model.
It has been just two months since Ford launched the EcoSport for the Indian market and it has been a major success for them, boosting their numbers significantly and this means that it will be a long time before we get a limited edition India. However, most of the features offered on the limited edition EcoSport are already available on the India spec Titanium variant. We have driven the Ford EcoSport in both the 1.0-litre Ecoboost engined petrol guise and 1.5-litre diesel engine variant. You can find links to both the road tests below.
