Force has been testing the different 4x4 versions of the Force One on the outskirts of Pune. While we had spotted the EX variant earlier, this time the SX model was sighted.
This test mule sported the 4X4 sticker and badging seen previously on the SUVs on test and doesn’t get any more cosmetic changes. Also, there are not many differences between the EX and the SX model, apart from the leather seats in the SX model, while the EX variant gets fabric seats.
The biggest addition to the SUV is the Borg Warner four-wheel-drive system with the electronic shift-on-the-fly function. The Force One comes powered by a 2.2-litre motor sourced from Daimler’s Mercedes-Benz division that produces 140bhp of power and 320Nm of torque. The base EX variant is powered by a 2.6-litre turbo charged inter cooled, direct injection diesel mill that produces 82bhp of power and 230Nm of torque. The engines come mated to a Daimler AG-sourced five-speed synchromesh gear box.
While the top-end LX variant of the Force One 4X4 is now available, we expect the manufacturer to launch the SX and EX four-wheel-drive variants soon. Gurkha, the much hyped off-roading vehicle from the automaker is also due for a launch. Force, with only a few products in its portfolio, has not established a firm foothold in India yet. With the launch of these new products they might be able to change their brand image in the Indian car market.
