The 4x4 version of the Force One was spied testing many times in Pune when the product was under development. Now, we spotted the EX variant of the vehicle with the 4X4 badging on test as well. The company should launch this version soon.
The Force One 4X4 variant does not get many cosmetic changes apart from a sticker that sets it apart from the outgoing 4X2 model. Apart from the decals seen in the picture, the SUV also gets a small 4X4 emblem above the front wheel arches. The company seems to have improved the interiors to give it a more premium feel.
The SUV sports a 2.2-litre motor sourced from Daimler’s Mercedes-Benz division which churns out 140bhp of power and 320Nm of torque. The EX variant is powered by a 2.6-litre turbo charged inter cooled, direct injection diesel engine that produces 82bhp of power and 230Nm of torque. This mill is BS III compliant and Mercedes OM 616 derived. These engines are mated to a five-speed synchromesh gear box sourced from Daimler AG.
Coming to the four-wheel-drive system, the Force One EX model will also be equipped with the Borg Warner system on the LX variant. The 4X4 system comes with three modes-2WD-high, 4WD-high and 4WD-low. This arrangement also provides for an electronic shift-on-the-fly, which enables on-the-move switch between 2WD-high and 4WD-high. We expect ABS with EBD will be available as an option.
The manufacturer has started taking bookings of the Force One 4X4 LX variant and this EX variant should also make its way to showrooms in few months with a price of Rs 1.5-2 lakh more than the standard one. Force, not a well known brand in the passenger car market in India, is making efforts to establish a firm foothold here. Along with the launch of this base 4X4 variant, the manufacturer should also create an excitement by introducing the new off-roading vehicle, the Gurkha.
