Hot on the heels of launching new variants for its Force One SUV including the unveiling of a new 4X4 variant (slated for an August launch), Force Motors is now believed to be working on a premium SUV which will compete with the like of Chevrolet Captiva, Toyota Fortuner, Nissan X-Trail and the Renault Koleos.
A report from TOI suggests that the car is currently on the drawing board and will most likely be ready in the next few years. It also says that the vehicle is a part of the Pune based automaker’s Rs 1000 Crore investment plan for the next few years.
If we go by the company’s current path of development, then it is likely that the premium SUV will be based on an older Mercedes-Benz vehicle. This is due to the fact that Force Motors currently has a technical partnership with the German automaker which includes the assembly of the engines for India spec S-Class luxury sedan.
It is likely that Force Motors is following a plan of expansion that is similar to what most of the manufacturers have now undertaken, which is to have a range of products at different price levels in a bid to be competitive across various segments.
