Force India is considering a name change to give it a more global appeal and flavour. So the Formula 1 team is mulling over drop the ‘India’ from its name.
The team boss, Vijay Mallya, said that the whole idea behind naming it Force India was to attract Indian sponsors and at the same time have an Indian driver in this competitive sport. However, this plan didn’t work out. According to him, there have a few sponsors who have suggested a name change. If the team manages to get the name changed, it could attract bigger companies to put in their money in a team that has shown some impressive performance in the last few races.
"There is a growing feeling that since we are a much-improved team in terms of performance and attracting more international sponsors, and sadly less Indian sponsors, there is a debate as to why the name should not be changed to give it a more international flavour," said Vijay Mallya.
