Technical specifications for the soon-to-be-launched Gurkha Xtreme have been leaked ahead of its probable later this year. It’s a major technical upgrade for the 4X4X4 Extreme Off Road Vehicle as it will get a 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel which is expected to replace the 2.6-litre unit powering the car currently.
The 2.2-litre unit is a Mercedes derived unit and is good for 140bhp/320Nm with a five-speed manual and a 4X4 system with low range transfer case. From the pictures, we can see that the Gurkha Xtreme will be offered only as a two-door model but we believe that this 2.2-litre engine will also find its way to the five-door models shortly.
The current 2.6-litre engine is good for 85bhp/230Nm of torque but is an older engine and is expected to be on its way out (at least in the case of the Gurkha). We expect that Force will not raise the prices too high from current bracket where the Gurkha now lies.
