Haval Auto Expo 2020
They say, “What’s in a name?” Well, everything if you’d ask us. Especially when you are known as Great Wall Motors, a name inspired by the Great Wall of China. The Chinese carmaker is set to mark its foray into the Indian market, and here are five reasons why you should check out the GWM pavilion at the Auto Expo 2020.
History
GWM was founded in 1984, and is headquartered in Baoding, China. It is the largest manufacturer of SUVs in China and sells vehicles under the Haval, Great Wall EV and Great Wall Pickup brands. Haval is the marquee SUV brand for GWM, while the company also manufactures premium luxury vehicles. What’s more, GWM has over 70 subsidiaries globally and employs around 70,000 people.
R&D Capabilities
GWM has built its independent technical centre in Baoding, China, which offers world-class R&D and technical ability for the brand. Additionally, GWM also has global R&D centres in Japan, Germany, United States, Austria, South Korea and India. What’s more, the company has built a global R&D layout in seven countries, covering the European, Asian and the North American markets.
Manufacturing Prowess
GWM has nine manufacturing factories in China and five KD globally. It has the Great Wall Motor Tula Factory in Russia, which is the first full-process manufacturing factory by a Chinese auto major in Russia and global markets. Besides Russia, the company has assembly plants in countries like Bulgaria, Indonesia, Nigeria, Ukraine, Vietnam and more.
Global Reach
GWM started exporting its range of passenger and commercial vehicles in 1998. And since then, the company expanded its global sales network to over 60 countries with five regional marketing centres in Russia, South Africa, Australia, South America and the Middle East. GWM is an internationally acclaimed carmaker, which has registered over one million sales globally for four years in a row.
The Indian Debut
Extending its commitment towards the Indian market, GWM recently signed an agreement with General Motor India to acquire its Talegaon factory. With this acquisition, which will be completed in the second half of 2020, the company will be able to locally manufacture its range of vehicles for the domestic market. Additionally, GWM will also showcase the Haval Vision 2025 concept, its range of SUVs, and GWM EV products, as well as innovations in advanced autonomous systems, connectivity, and intelligent safety.
