Five reasons to buy an electric car

    Content

Electric cars are the way forward. Every big manufacturer is investing in them and it is predicted that by 2030 electric vehicles will achieve the same level of proliferation as we see with petrol and diesel powered models today and they will be far more affordable due to the expected advancements in technology.

But you don’t need to wait that long as there are already electric cars available on sale. Mahindra offers the e2oPlus and the eVerito and here are 5 reasons why you should look at them as your next purchase.

    Lowest Running cost assured
The price of running an electric is less than a Rupee per kilometre. An average sized hatchback today gives you a real world fuel efficiency of 15kmpl and at a price of Rs 84 per litre (in Mumbai at the time of writing this story). The e2oPlus requires just Rs 80 worth of electric charge to give you a range of 100km and this translates into lower running costs.

Home is where the charge is
The 16 Amp plug point at your home which is used for ACs and refrigerators can now be also used to charge your electric car. Yes! As simple as that. A complete charge takes 6 hours to complete, so most users prefer overnight charging, every alternate day depending on usage.

    Smoking not allowed
By virtue of being an electric car, the e2oPlus and the eVerito are zero emission vehicles. This means that when you are sitting in a choc-a-block traffic, you can be proud of the fact that you are contributing nothing but good vibes and positive energy to the congested environment around you.

    Low maintenance
An electric car has only 20 moving parts as compared to an ICE vehicle which has 2000 moving parts. This means lower service costs and in the long run this leads low cost with regard to ownership experience.

    Easy to drive
In today’s congested city traffic, we prefer using cars with automatic transmission which eases our work load but at a secret cost. These are that they compromise on fuel efficiency and also increase your car’s maintenance cost.
Instead, how about using one of the most efficient transmissions, the ‘direct drive’ transmission, that is brought to India for the first time in the all – electric Mahindra e2oPlus and eVerito. A direct drive transmission can give you the same comfort and ease of drive as an automatic, without compromising on efficiency or increasing the car’s maintenance costs.
