As a part of Isuzu’s Global outreach program to assist local communities during times of crisis, Isuzu has donated five D-MAX pickup vehicles to the Andhra Pradesh Government. The cars were handed over at the Collectorate of Vishakapatnam in the presence of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, N Chandrababu Naidu. The vehicles will be used by Greater Vishakapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) to carry out disaster relief activities in the region.
For the development of communities of different regions, the company had previously taken up such initiatives related to environment, quality improvement and social support. One such activity is the donation of a vehicle training kit to ITI, Tirupati and a three-day training course for the ITI staff. They were provided with advanced automobile knowledge with the guidance of Japanese trainers. They aimed at developing a talented manpower pool locally with the implementation of this event.
Mr. Naidu, said, "It is heartening to see Corporates reaching out to support us during these difficult times. Isuzu is the first Automobile manufacturer to set up their manufacturing plant in AP and they are also the first corporate house to donate vehicles which will be used for relief efforts. I sincerely appreciate and encourage all responsible corporate citizens to come forward in rebuilding Vishakapatnam."
Takashi Kikuchi, Managing Director, Isuzu Motors India, said, "Isuzu has always placed its corporate social responsibility as a top priority in areas of environmental preservation, educational promotion and livelihood assistance. Whether it was Flooding in Australia (2011), the Earthquake in Japan (2011) or Typhoon Yolanda in Philippines (2013), Isuzu has been among the first to reach out and help the local community in terms of manpower support or material requirements."
The people in the cyclone affected regions of Vishakapatnam needed quick help and the Andhra Pradesh government provided assistance on a war-footing. Isuzu Motors has voluntarily done a kind deed of lending support to these people in collaboration with the government.
