Henrik Fisker announced his second coming to the business of car making earlier this month with a new name – Fisker Inc. And now he has tweeted a teaser image of his new Fisker model which is a spiritual successor to the Fisker Karma. The car will be Fisker's first model under the new company.
The car in the image sports crazy butterfly doors, for easier ingress and egress, says the designer turned carmaker. He also claims the car will be ‘sporty and spacious’, with a promise that more details of the car will be shared next week.
According to reports, the car’s structure will be made of carbon fibre and aluminium and it will boast a larger interior than its closest competitor and have a range of more than 400miles (644 km). The battery for the vehicle will be developed by the company's very own new battery division known as Fisker Nanotech. It will make use of graphene supercapacitors instead of traditional lithium ion batteries and the car is most likely to be produced at the VLF Automotive facility where two luxury performance cars – Destino V8 and Force 1 V10 are being manufactured with Fisker’s assistance.
The carmaker hopes this car will be able to pave the way for a more consumer-friendly electric car that Fisker claims will be more affordable than the Chevy Bolt and Tesla’s Model 3. Fisker is aiming to reveal the electric car in the latter half of 2017 and will rival the Tesla, which the carmaker sees as big competition.
Speaking of the Karma, after the bankruptcy of Fisker Automotive in 2013, it was bought by Chinese auto-parts company, Wanxiang Group. They renamed the company to Karma Automotive and plan to reincarnate the brand with a revamped and updated - Karma Revero.
