Henrik Fisker teased a new EV from his resurrected brand, the Fisker Inc., a few days ago. Fulfilling the promise to release further details of the car, the carmaker has tweeted images of the new EV, revealing it to be a sedan with a name – EMotion.
By the looks of it, the car is particularly sporty in appearance, with flared wheel arches, aggressive and aerodynamic front fascia with boomerang-like headlamps, a swooping roofline, no rear overhang, and stout proportions with large wheels. Fisker claims that the vehicle has taken advantage of the newly developed electric powertrain layout by pushing the vehicle’s entire interior compartment forward and increasing the wheelbase with distinctively short front and rear overhangs resulting in a layout that increases the interior space. The manufacturer claims the car will have ‘superb leg room’ in his tweet. The two vents in the bonnets and the air ducts on the front bears an uncanny resemblance to the VLF Automotive’s Force 1 car, with which the designer-turned-carmaker is involved with since January.
The looks aren't the only thing that got people talking about the EMotion. The new pure EV will make use of a new battery technology, which incorporates graphene supercapacitors instead of traditional lithium ion batteries. These batteries are developed in-house by the Fisker’s battery division – Nanotech. Courtesy of the new battery tech, Fisker claims the EMotion will have a range of about 644km on a single charge and will go on to hit a top speed of 260kmph. The car’s body is made from carbon fibre, aluminium, and composite materials conforming to the required strength, stiffness, light weight and rigidity.
Then there is the autonomous driving capability of the car which is in the pipeline. Though still under development the future car will be fully autonomous once the capability is developed and integrated by the supplier, said the carmaker. The EMotion will hopefully be able to pave the way for a second, mass-produced, cheaper vehicle which will allow high volume production based on a new modular EV platform.
The Fisker EMotion is most likely to be produced at the VLF Automotive facility and will be available sometime in the middle of next year.
