Mercedes-Benz has decided to give its fans a superb Christmas gift by posting pictures of the new CLA sedan just a few days ahead of its debut at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show. It joins the new E-Class, whose pictures were also leaked recently, as the German automakers major launches for the coming year.
From the pictures we can tell that the CLA shares many of its design cues with the A-Class like the floating dots grille, massively sculpted air intakes and chin spoiler that sits rather prominently in the front. Mercedes has really been working hard on giving the car clean sculpted lines and this is very evident on the side and in the back especially the rear bumper and the rather sharp looking boot lid.
The interiors of this upcoming baby CLS are pretty much the same as the A-Class albeit with a few minor changes to the fabric to differentiate it from its hatchback sibling. The CLA will be offered with three petrol engines producing 122bhp (CLA 180) 156bhp (CLA 200) and 211bhp (CLA 250) and one diesel mill which produces 170bhp (CLA 220 CDI). The company has also confirmed that an AMG version dubbed CLA 45 AMG (335bhp) will make its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September next year.
This CLA is based on the German automakers versatile MFA platform and is part of a sub- Rs 25 lakh five vehicle range that it plans to launch in the next few years. The first vehicle in this this range was the B-Class which was launched in September and it has been already been fully booked for 2012.
