The official name of the first MG SUV for India will be revealed tomorrow and it’s likely to be called the Hector. This is a premium SUV and will be the Chinese owned British automakers rival for the likes of the Hyundai Tucson, Jeep Compass and the Tata Harrier.
It will be offered with petrol and diesel power and in addition to the segment standard features will also be the first car among its rivals to be equipped with a 360 degree view camera system. Spy images have also revealed an LED lighting package as well as a massive Tesla like 10-inch touchscreen system.
The car will be produced at MGs new plant in Halol, Gujrat and will be followed in 2020 by an electric SUV. We have looked into detail on MGs plans for India as well their importance for Chinese car makers in India in the future.
One of the most famous Hectors is from Greek and Roman mythology and appears in the saga of Troy. Indians will be able to relate to this name by recollecting the 2004 Brad Pitt starrer-Troy. In this movie, the character of Hector is played by Australian actor Eric Bana.
