After making its much anticipated appearance ahead of the 2016 Auto Expo, the Ford Mustang is set to storm its way onto the Indian roads. This American icon of a car has arrived and is due to be launched soon. In fact, the first lot of Mustangs have been imported and spotted at one of Ford India’s manufacturing facilities.
The Mustang for India will be available only with the 5-litre V8 engine that produces over 420bhp of power and 530Nm of torque. All that American muscle will be transferred to the road via a 6-speed automatic gearbox. Globally, Ford also sells the Mustang with a more driver-focused 6-speed manual – an option that’s not on offer for India-spec cars.
We would like to add that we will be getting the European-spec Mustang which is slightly different from the American-spec model. Key changes include redesigned hood, wing mirrors and headlight detailing. Mechanically, the car features a smaller exhaust manifold compared to the American-spec model which has resulted in a power drop of around 5bhp.
Ford India is expected to launch the Mustang in the next couple of months, with prices in the region of Rs 75 lakh to Rs 80 lakh.
