The W Motors Lykan Hypersport is superlative - it will go from 0-100kmph in 2.8 seconds, top out at 395kmph and will cost USD 3.5 million. Only five will be made.
W Motors is a boutique car manufacturer from the Middle East, and the probability is high that you've not heard of the company, since the Lykan is its first product. They're claiming a lot of superlatives, like a 751PS, 1000Nm output from a twin-turbo flat-six engine. 0-100kmph is brought up in 2.8 seconds, and acceleration stops at 395kmph.
Over 100 orders have been placed for the car that the company originally claimed would make only five of. However, that isn't what staggers us. It isn't even the asking price of USD 3.5 million, or the fully holographic display that the company claims will be part of the Lykan experience.
The top-spec variant will have an interior lined in diamonds, gold and platinum - AND a Cyrus Klepcys Watch that costs USD 200,000. One wonders what the actual cost of the car is without the frippery, although we're sure a lot of those orders are due to the very things that make our puritan side sputter with indignation.
Construction of the carbonfibre body and precious interior is done in Italy, with German Porsche specialists RUF supplying the engine for the Lykan. W Motors was founded in Beirut, Lebanon, and is now based in the UAE.
