The production version of the Suzuki Authentics (Ciaz) has been patented in China. The leaked sketches show that the final design stays true to the concept and is expected to reach production line in China before the end of this year. In India though, the new car should replace the SX4 sooner with deliveries commencing around Diwali.
Apart from the obvious changes to the lights and grille, the final design carries the same proportion and theme as the concept. The elongated headlamps, bold front grille (which will have lots of chrome) and sculpted bumper makes for an aggressive front design. The two-piece tail lamps remind us of the BMW design that forms a hexagon for the number plate slot. The side profile highlights the length of the car and it looks bigger than most of its mid-sized rivals.
In India, the Ciaz is expected to use 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol will also be available with a CVT automatic variant, apart from the five-speed manual that will be standard for rest of the lineup. The new sedan will compete with the Honda City, Volkswagen Vento, Hyundai Verna, Ford Fiesta and others with a starting price of around Rs 7.25 lakh.
