The Fiat Avventura, first unveiled at this year's Auto Expo in February, will be launched tomorrow for the Indian market. This will be just the third vehicle to be added to the hatchback compact crossover category in our country, the other two being - the Volkswagen Cross Polo and Toyota Etios Cross.
The Avventura is based on the Punto platform and borrows most of the styling cues from it. However, there are a few touches to the new car that set it apart from the hatchback. The car gets body cladding that gives it a muscular look. While the fascia sports a single piece mesh grille and projector headlamps, the grey coloured front bash plate bears the registration plate. The front bumper gets a sporty look and it comes equipped with LED lights.
With larger wheels than the Punto and thanks to the body cladding, the car looks bigger than the normal hatchbacks. At the rear, the spare wheel comes fitted on a swinging section that is attached to the bumper. The tail lamps are LED units that give the car a fresh look while the meaty rear bumper gets dual exhausts.
The cabin of the Avventura is the same as the Punto, meaning - no compromise on space. The car features black leather seats with orange stitching that compliment the Adventure theme the company had planned. The list of equipment in the interior includes climate control, cruise control, 2-DIN infotainment system etc. Another highlight is the addition of unique features like a compass and vehicle lean angle indicators.
The petrol variant of the Avventura will be powered by the 1.4-litre FIRE engine that churns out 89bhp of power and 115Nm of torque. The diesel variant will house the 1.3-litre Multijet motor that produces 92bhp of power and 209Nm of torque. The engines will come mated to a five-speed manual transmission.
The Avventura will mark Fiat's entry into the hatchback compact crossover segment in India and it will compete with the Cross Polo and Etios Cross when launched. We expect the Avventura to be priced in the range of Rs 5 lakh to Rs 8 lakh. Stay tuned to CarWale as we will bring live updates to you from the launch.
