Fiat has unveiled the crossover version of the Punto called the Avventura. First put on the estate version of the Palio, way back in 2002, Fiat has reintroduced the ‘Adventure’ moniker in India for this crossover but in a slightly different spelling.
The crossover had been spotted testing in Italy and India a few times. Fueled by the rise in interest in crossovers, created by the Renault Duster and Ford EcoSport, Fiat had decided to create this new car, especially for the Indian market.
The car carries forward the architecture of the Grande Punto hatchback and is devoted for people with an active lifestyle. It features plastic cladding all around to give it a rugged look and set it apart from the hatchback. A closer look at the previous spy shots showed the absence of a rear differential and this car indeed is a front-wheel-drive urban car, rather than an off-roader. Its increased ride height is what lends it this stance.
The protective skid plates, strips and moldings, the fitted functionalized roof bars and the spare mounted externally makes the side image of the Fiat Avventura truly unique. The interiors of the car borrow quite a few parts and are designed along the lines of the hatchback.
