Fiat has unveiled the Aegea project at the ongoing Istanbul Motor Show in Turkey. Unlike other sedans, which are extended versions of compact hatchbacks, the Aegea has been developed from ground up as a proper four-door sedan, for the Italian manufacturer’s 40 markets across the globe.
The production version of the sedan will sport a different name when it goes on sale. Measuring 4.5 metres in length, the Aegea sedan will come with a choice of four engines – two petrols and two MultiJet diesels. With power figures between 94bhp and 118bhp, the sedan will return an efficiency of around 25kmpl over a combined cycle.
Fiat has confirmed that the Aegea project will further spawn off two more models – a compact hatchback and an estate. Fiat revealed that the sedan will be manufactured at the company’s facility in Bursa, Turkey. The sedan is expected to enter production in 2016 and we can expect it to go on sale in India eventually, by the end of next year.
