According to Fiat Group Automobiles India, president and managing director, Nagesh Basavanhalli, Fiat group, who controls the American auto manufacturer Chrysler plans to bring the Jeep brand to India by the end of this year.
In the US the Jeep has a broad range of compact and premium SUVs along with all-terrain vehicles like the Wrangler. In India Fiat will introduce the premium Grand Cherokee and the compact SUV Wrangler. More models will added to the Jeep range in India by 2016. The vehicles will be initially introduced in India as completely built units from North America and may take the CKD route.
Fiat India has planned on an aggressive strategy for India for the next three years. The company has plans to refresh the models under the Fiat brand completely along with introducing the Jeep brand and the performance focused Abarth models.
