The Fiat Tipo hatchback has been spotted testing with camouflage in Turkey just a week after Fiat declared ‘Tipo’ to be the name of its new sedan. The Tipo started off as project Aegea that was unveiled in Istanbul, Turkey and is expected to be the Fiat Linea successor.
The Tipo sedan is expected to go on sale in Italy by the end of 2015. The Tipo hatchback, based on the Tipo sedan, is built on a wheelbase of 2640mm – 40mm longer than the Maruti Suzuki S-cross. If the Tipo hatchback makes it to India, it will certainly be a premium hatchback that would be positioned above the Punto. Globally, the Tipo is powered the 1.3 Multijet II and the 1.6 Multijet II diesel engines which available in the Maruti S-Cross sold in India along with two petrol engines. Like we expect for the Tipo sedan, we may get the 1.3 Multijet II diesel and the 1.4 FIRE petrol engine in India.
If Volkswagen gets the Golf to India, we certainly would have competition for the Tipo hatchback. What we can say for sure is that the Tipo hatch, will certainly be one of the best looking hatchbacks in the country.
