A new batch of spy pictures of the Fiat Punto facelift has emerged revealing the hatchback in its entirety for the first time. The car sported a new ochre yellow paint scheme, though we are sure Fiat will have a fancier name for it.
While the new Punto will be mechanically similar to its predecessor, it will benefit from a few significant cosmetic updates. The front gets a refreshed look thanks to a new grille and wrap-around headlamps, which were first seen on the Avventura crossover concept at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo. The bumper has also been redesigned and gets new fog lamp housings. The rear tail lamps have also been redesigned though they still are vertically stacked like in current Punto.
Unlike the previous spy pictures, in which the test mules sported dual-tone beige trim, this Punto has all-black interiors. The layout of the interiors is the exactly same as the one in the facelifted Linea.
The Punto will continue to be offered with the current car’s engine options, which include two petrols and one diesel. The petrol variants will be powered by a 1.2-litre and a 1.4-litre unit, churning out 67bhp and 96Nm of torque and 89bhp and 115Nm of torque respectively.
The diesel variants will get the 1.3-litre MultiJet engine which is expected to be available in two states of tune, the standard one producing 75bhp while the tuned up version making 90bhp. All these engines send power to the front wheels through a five-speed manual gearbox.
The facelifted Fiat Punto is expected to be launched before the end of the year. It rivals other B+ Segment hatchbacks like the Hyundai i20 and the Volkswagen Polo.
