Fiat is hard at work to make sure that it performs well in the Indian car market. After launching the 2014 Linea facelift, the Italian carmaker is readying its hatchback-based crossover – the Avventura and the 500 Abarth, in order to expand its existing portfolio. Besides the latter two, there’s also the new Punto facelift which will be poised as an important model, one that will bring in good sales for Fiat India.
The Linea facelift is already on sale and if we go by an Autocar India report, it won’t be very long before we see the Punto facelift on the roads as well. The report states that Fiat India could launch the Punto facelift sometime in early August.
The Punto facelift gets a revised front fascia with new bumper, grille and swept back headlights. The rear end, too, is restyled with a new set of tail-lights. Inside, the cabin will get a dashboard layout similar to the 2014 Linea.
Upgrades under the hood would be minimal as Fiat will stick to the MultiJet diesel engines with different power outputs of 74bhp and 89bhp. The petrol-powered Punto, meanwhile, will get the same 1.2-litre and 1.4-litre petrol engines found in the existing model.
The Punto facelift will join Fiat India’s line-up which currently only consists of the new Linea and the outgoing Punto. The brand, however, will also add the 500 Abarth and the Avventura crossover, both of which will go on sale this year.
