The Fiat Punto has been spotted testing on multiple occasions and we even got to see the car undisguised giving us an idea as to what the Italian automaker’s revised B-segment hatchback will look like when it is launched. Now, the car is in the news once again as its variants and features have been leaked.
The Fiat Punto Evo will continue the current car’s variant nomenclature as well as engine options. The petrol variants are Active, Dynamic, Emotion and Sport while the engine options are the 1.2-litre petrol (Active and Dynamic), 1.4-litre petrol (Emotion only). The diesel engine is the 1.3-litre Multijet unit that will be availabe in the 75bhp guise in the Active, Dynamic and Emotion variant while the Sport gets the same engine but with an output of 90bhp.
We already know that the Punto Evo is getting the same interios as the facelifted Linea, so in terms of overall design we already know what the inside of the car will be like when it is launched.
The Active variant in the Punto Evo gets automatic door locks, fire protection system, engine immobiliser, integrated indicators on the OVRMs, body coloured bumpers, dual tone dashboard, front power windows, steel wheels, follow me home headlamps and speed limit buzzer.
The Dynamic variant in addtion to the features of the Active variant also gets ABS with EBD, door ajar indicator, height adjustment for the front seat, electronically adjustable OVRMs, boot lamp, switchblade key, power windows for the rear seats, music system with MP3 and AUX input.
The Emotion variant in addtion to the features of the Dynamic variant gets front airbags, passenger airbags (with deactivation), 3-point seatbelts with pre-tensioning and load limiting, chrome door handles, climate control, rear AC vents, Blue&Me technology, steering mounted audio controls and new design diamond cut alloy wheels. The top-of-the-line Sport variant gets all the features plus a full black dashboard and 16-inch alloy wheels.
Fiat will offer the Punto Evo in seven colours- gold, grey, red, lighter grey, black, white and a shade of maroon which the company calls Tuscan Wine. It appears that the cars have already reached dealerships which means that the launch is expected to happen very soon. It is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 5 lakh to Rs 7.5 lakh and will compete with the Hyundai i20 and the Volkswagen Polo.
