Fiat India is expected to launch a T-Jet powered Punto Evo hatchback in a couple of months and the car has been already spotted at a dealership. Fiat car fans and enthusiasts will be delighted to know that their favourite hatchback is coming soon in a powerful avatar.
At present, the Fiat Punto Evo is available in both petrol and diesel engine options, but power output is less than 100bhp. This T-jet version will be powered by the same 1.4-litre T-jet mill from the Linea, but will be tuned to generate 135bhp of power. This hike in power output is courtesy the new turbocharger in place. This mill will come mated to a five-speed manual gearbox.
The T-jet version of the Punto Evo will be similar to the model launched last year. There won’t be any major cosmetic changes, apart from the T-jet badging and a few tweaks to differentiate it from the standard model. Same is the case with the cabin, as we do not expect any changes to the interior. However, the company might offer different accessories at the dealer level. Also, disc brakes on all four wheels might be an exclusive feature for this model.
With the introduction of the Fiat Punto Evo T-Jet to the Indian market, it will not only make it the most powerful hatchback under the Rs 10 lakh segment, but will also appeal to the Fiat fans and enthusiasts who were eagerly waiting for this version of the hatchback. Let us hope that the Punto Evo T-Jet version is priced slightly higher than the naturally aspirated versions making it a desirable option for enthusiasts in our country.
