Fiat India has inaugurated its first stockyard close to the facility in Ranjangaon. Spread over 12 acres, the stockyard has capacity to accommodate close to 2,000 cars. Designed and constructed by the Fiat’s logistic partner, Mercurio Pallia, it has proper storm water drainage system and CCTV cams for safety of the cars.
Currently the yard will be used to stock the Fiat lineup – that is the Punto and the Linea. In due course, it will cater to the entire Fiat-Chrysler range in India – Fiat, Jeep and Abarth. This move follows Fiat’s plans to independently sell cars in the country through dedicated Fiat showrooms. The Fiat-Tata partnership will continue in other key areas
Speaking on the occasion, Enrico Atanasio, MD, FIAT Group Automobiles Pvt. Ltd, said, "The FIAT Group views India as a key strategic market and one which will soon be amongst the top five automobile markets in the world. We are confident that India will be a driving force in terms of volumes for the group and therefore, the development of this stockyard in association with Mercurio Pallia, our logistics partner will enable us to bridge the demand-supply gap and put us in a strong position to achieve our objectives."
