Fiat India has released a small trailer for the Avventura crossover ahead of its launch during the festival season. The Italian automaker had unveiled the car at the 2014 Auto Expo in February and then last month previewed the compact crossover on its official website.
The Fiat Avventura is based on the Punto hatchback and has been designed to give the Italian automaker an entry into the rapidly growing compact crossover segment. Fiat has given the car projector headlights, body kit, chunky tyres and a tail gate mounted spare wheel to give it the butch appeal. Its interiors are based on the Punto and the Linea but with design changes and small additions like a roll and tilt gauge, different fonts for the gauges and two-tone seat upholstery.
It is expected to be powered by the same set of engine from the Punto and the Linea which means the petrol units are the 1.2-litre and 1.4-litre engines while the diesel will be the 1.3-litre Multijet diesel unit which will be offered in 75bhp and 90bhp. The transmission is a five-speed manual though the display vehicle had a six-speed manual.
It is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 5 lakh to Rs 8 lakh and as we had said earlier, is expected to be launched during the festive season. It will compete with the Toyota Etios Cross and the Volkswagen Cross Polo.
