We have all seen the Jeep Renegade and know most of its features, specifications and more importantly the fact that it will be brought to India when Fiat launches the Jeep brand locally next year. However, we also know that there will be Fiat models called the 500X which will be launched most probably at the 2014 Paris Motor Show.
The Fiat 500X is expected to have a much more rounded design as compared to the Renegade but it is almost certain that it will look elegant in the typical Italian way. The spy shots also reveal the front of the cabin which will look very similar to that of the standard 500 right down to the design of the gauges.
It will share its engine and gearbox line up with the Renegade which means the petrol units will be the 1.4-litre Multiair unit and the 2.4-litre tigershark engine from Jeep. The diesel engines are expected to be the 1.6-litre and 2.0-litre Multijet diesel units. The cars are expected to get six-speed manuals as well a nine-speed AT box.
The Fiat 500X will share much of its underpinnings and design with the Reneagad e and will replace Suzuki-based Sedici crossover. It will join the 500 hatchback, 500c convertible and the 500L premium hatchback.
