Fiat has priced its 500L premium hatchback in the US market for 19000 Dollars (Rs 10.61 lakh). The 500L is the long wheelbase version of the 500 hatchback and has the same features and engine line, but has five doors.
The Fiat 500L is powered by the 1.4-litre turbocharged Multiair engine that produces 160PS and 184Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a six-speed manual or a six-speed dual clutch gearbox.
The car is being offered in four different variants. The base spec is the Pop variant that along with standard features like power windows, AC, electric mirrors also features chrome wheel covers. The next variant is the 500L Easy that along with the features of the Pop variant includes a tinted rear glass, body coloured mirrors and a better music system. The third variant is the 500L trekking that has contrast coloured bumpers with graphite inserts, fog lamps and 17-inch wheels.
The top of the line is the 500L Lounge that features the dual-clutch transmission, special 16-inch wheels, chrome accents on the outside, vinyl wrapped instrument panel, heated leather seats and dual zone climate control. Fiat is also offering the optional premier package for the trekking and Lounge variants. The package comprises features like a rear parking sensor and a touch screen infotainment system.
While the 500L Pop has been priced at 19000 Dollars (Rs 10.61 lakh), the top of the line Lounge variant has been priced at 24, 195 (Rs 13.54 lakh). However, the price excludes an 800 Dollar (Rs 44, 784) destination charge.
Fiat has said that it will go on sale from summer 2013, which is basically within the next two months. The Italian automaker will most likely replace its entire current range of vehicles with variants of the Fiat 500 and the Panda. This means that India is likely to get the 500L within the next one year but with the option of a diesel mill.
