Pictures of the Fiat 500 XL have been revealed by the petrol heads at carscoop.com. The new vehicle is expected to be a seven seater and 150mm longer than the 500L but will have the same wheelbase. The extra length has been added to the rear overhang to accommodate the third row of seats.
Based on the Fiat Chrysler group’s ‘Small US Wide’ platform, the compact MPV is expected to be available with a range of engines including the 1.4 litre T-jet petrol. The vehicle which is likely to go into production at the end of 2013 will be released for the European market but is not likely to go to the US as it will be too small a vehicle for them.
The model will join the Fiat 500, 500L and 500X crossover and contributes to the range of small cars which are likely to take on the Mini range. According to reports the MPV will break cover at the Paris Motor Show in September.
