The 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show featured the unveiling of the perfect successor to the F430; named the 458 Italia. The same venue also announced the arrival of its top down variant and sticking to this tradition, the Maranello based manufacturer plans to introduce the new 458 Scuderia variant in coming September.
In the two years of its existence, the 458 Italia has mesmerised many minds and emptied many pockets. The new Scuderia variant though is for the more track focused millionaire. Designed to set new performance benchmarks, the 458 Scuderia will feature larger air intakes embedded to the front bumper and an active carbon fibre winglets on the rear diffuser. These features among many more will be part of a new aerodynamic body kit and when clubbed with other weigh loss measurements will result in an overall weight reduction of a staggering 100kg.
Power will be delivered from the same 4.5-litre V8 engine from the 458 Italia but will likely feature an optimized ECU and few other modifications to boost the power to well over 610PS.The track focused curing also mean that the car will do the 0-100kmph drag in less than 3.4 seconds and attain a top speed in excess of 325kmph.
The exact performance figures for the car are yet to be announced, but the Ferrari’s have never been only about the numbers. It is the legacy bared by the prancing horse badge, one that the 458 Scuderia should uphold.
