The Ferrari La Ferrari was a huge step up in powertrain technology for the Maranello based exotic car manufacturer who has now confirmed that the project was not one off. Ferrari boss Luca Cordero di Montezemolo believes that Ferrari will invest further in hybrid technology, though not in the near future. Newer hybrid models will take a while to roll out as the current Ferrari line up is a fresh one with the oldest model being the California which got a MY facelift in 2013.
The political pressures on producing cleaner cars have affected both automotive and motorsport spheres, with Formula One opting to downsize their engines in an effort to make the sport more environment friendly. Ferrari is not the only sports car manufacturer to take the hybrid route, with the McLaren and Porsche working on hybrid powered super cars.
But when quizzed by Bloomberg about completely electrifying their performance cars, the Ferrari boss was quick to deny any such plans. That is certainly good news for any petrol head as a super car quieter than the juicer in your kitchen is a nightmare that we wish even our fiercest enemies don’t get!
