A sedan is not the body style you would want to associate with Ferrari, over the years they have remained loyal to building sports cars. It will change soon, work is underway on Ferrari’s first ever sedan, based on the recently unveiled Maserati Ghibli. The shocker is that the car will get a diesel engine, a pitter patter note from a Ferrari.
The Italian company will take the covers off the sedan when it will make its official debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show next year. The car is currently under test at a secret location and the project development head Shakti Kapoor says, “This is the first Ferrari that will be blue after a long time, I was bored to see red so this car will have the primary colour blue.”
However, the idea of a sedan is still great news, purists and Ferrari fans will cringe over the addition of a diesel mill.
Kapoor said, “The news of a diesel is good actually, the competition in this segment has it, so we didn’t want to be left out. The diesel engine makes a bad noise and has no exhaust note, but we will give our customers a choice of three noise insulations to keep this noise away,” when asked about using diesel engine in the new car.
We expect the car to be launched in India after 6 months from its unveiling next year. So ladies and gentleman, keep the your cheque books ready for the Ferrari sedan. It is rumoured to be priced at Rs 60 lakh.
