A year after making its mark globally, the Ferrari 488 GTB has officially arrived in India. The two-door supercar has been priced at Rs 3.88 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi) and competes with the other big boys from Lamborghini and Aston Martin.
The 488 GTB is Ferrari’s first mid-engined turbo V8 since the iconic 288 GTO and F40. Thanks to a unique engine management system that delivers torque in a controlled manner with zero turbo lag, Ferrari is claiming engine responsiveness that is equivalent to a naturally-aspirated V8.
The 488 GTB gets a 3.9-litre turbocharged V8 engine that pumps out 660bhp of power and a mad 760Nm of torque. Paired to a dual clutch 7-speed automatic gearbox that sends power to the rear wheels, this powerhouse allows the 488 GTB to accelerate from 0-100kmph in 3 seconds. Meanwhile, the sprint from 0-200kmph takes a claimed 8.3 seconds whereas the top speed is well over 320kmph.
Designed and made in Maranello, Italy, the Ferrari 488 GTB comes to India as a fully imported vehicle and competes with the likes of Lamborghini Huracan and the Aston Martin V12 Vantage.
