The only car in the world to refer to itself in third person now looks set to take its top…err roof off. Yes, we are talking about the Ferrari La Ferrari and it now looks to set to have a spider version. The test mule has been spotted in Europe and is covered in partial camouflage.
How do we have some clue that this is the spider? For starters it has standard doors as compared to the coupe’s scissor doors. The party piece on the convertible will be a detachable roof made of two panels which can be removed and stored in the front.
Under the hood will continue the naturally aspirated 6.3-litre V12 engine which produces 789bhp. It is assisted by a two-electric motor which are basically HY-KERS system that produces an additional 110bhp taking the total power to 899bhp and close to 900Nm of torque. It has a 41/59 weight distribution. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via an F1-style dual clutch gearbox and a low-mounted transmission to improve handling and keep the centre of gravity as low as possible.
A convertible La Ferrari was predicted when the car was launched and it was only a matter of time before the test vehicle was spotted. It is expected to have a limited production run of 10 units which by the looks of it will already be sold before the car is unveiled.
