Ferrari has launched the 488 GTB in Malaysia for 1.07 million RM (Rs 1.71 crore). It has been brought to the Malaysian market through Naza Italia, the official distributor of Ferrari’s cars in the country. The 488 GTB is the spiritual successor to the highly successful 458 Italia and was unveiled at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.
First and foremost, the Ferrari 488 GTB is powered by a twin-turbo (a first for the Italian supercar maker) 3.9-litre V8 that produces 660bhp and 760NMm of torque, a significant increase over the 458 Italia’s 596bhp and 540Nm of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a Getrag seven-speed DCT which now features variable torque management.
Weighing in at just 1.4-tonnes, it can sprint to 100kmph in just three seconds and then go on to hit a top-speed of 330kmph.
In terms of external design, the 488 GTB, carries an evolutionary shape from its predecessor but still has all the classic Ferrari lines to give it that unique shape. The interior too appears to be evolutionary and can be customised as per the owner’s tastes.
Malaysian customers will get the car by the beginning of next year while we in India are expected to get the 488 GTB within the next few months.
