The facelifted Tata Nano has been spied testing. This is the second time that these vehicles have been spotted in Mumbai – these are registered vehicles that are in Mumbai for almost a month for a TV commercial. The facelift version has previously spied during testing in various locations across the country over the last few months.
The facelifted Tata Nano features cosmetic changes as well as mechanical changes. The facelifted Tata Nano is very similar to the current model from the front, but now features a large chrome strip running across the bonnet in a bid to give the car an upmarket feel. The rear end too gets a large chrome strip just above the bumper and it is likely that the hatch will be openable but only via an internal release mechanism.
The pictures also show that an additional air intake on the rear bumper for increased cooling. The interiors of the Nano have not changed much and still retain the same overall design including the centrally mounted instrument cluster.
The facelifted Nano is expected to debut a new diesel engine that has been developed American manufacturer Honeywell for the Indian automaker. The oil burner will be an 800cc that produces 43.5PS. We have also revealed exclusively that the Nano diesel will go into production next February and that is likely to use a plastic fuel tank to save on weight. To increase the range Tata is also expected to include a CNG option along with standard 624cc petrol mill.
We expect that Tata will launch the facelifted Nano within the next few months and this is expected to be a crucial vehicle for them in their bid to prop up falling sales that has been plaguing them over the last few months.
