Tata has launched the facelifted Nano variants for Rs 1.5 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). After a variety of spy shots, it was unveiled during a function in June along with eight other models from the Indian automaker’s line up but no prices had been announced at that point of time. The facelifted Nano features a host of cosmetic changes both inside and outside but remains the same in terms of underpinnings. It has been priced Rs 5000 more than the equivalent variant of the outgoing model.
The front fascia of the facelifted Nano gets a chrome strip on the front bonnet and the rear door, mostly in a bid to give the car an upmarket feel. There is also a new air intake on the rear bumper and this is likely to be an addition for the diesel engined car that should see the light of day next year.
The spacious interiors is now offered (top spec variant only) with twin glove boxes, music system with Bluetooth+USB+aux compatibility, front power windows and finally beige fabrics for the doors and seats. While the STD variant gets a two spoke wheel, the other two two variants get a three spoke steering wheel.
The engine and underpinnings remain the same as before, a 624cc two-cylinder mill that produces 38PS and 51Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via four-speed manual transmission. We also expect that Tata will soon the launch the CNG variant Nano e-max. It was also unveiled at the June event.
The Tata Nano official website also continues to list prices of the older variants of the car. We believe that they are looking to clear its inventory of the older model and that means there should be hefty discounts on the older models during the upcoming festival season.
Tata is also offering a large list of accessories for the facelifted Nano. It includes decals, alloy wheels, body kits, spoilers, exhaust tips and a car cover. The facelifted Tata Nano competes with the Hyundai Eon and the Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 in the A-segment. For more details on the interiors of the facelifted Nano, watch our featurette below.
