An undisguised facelifted Tata Indigo eCS has been spotted testing by the crew at Motorbash. The first car to make use of the chopped boot+ sub four metre formula, the Indigo eCS, has been around for quite a while and has been constant seller for the Indian auto gaint. However, now that Tata is facing a major slump in sales, a facelifted version of a low cost and rather spacious sedan might just help them curtail the damage.
The facelifted Indigo eCS has got mostly cosmetic changes both inside and outside. In the front it gets new grille as well as a revised design for the fog lamps. The interiors are expected to get a few minor updates and this is likely to include some bits from the new Indica Vista D90.
The Indigo eCS will continue to be powered by one petrol engine and one diesel mill. The former is a 1.2-litre mill producing 65bhp and 100Nm of torque while the oilburner is a 1.4-litre mill producing 70bhp and 135Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheel via a five-speed manual gearbox. Tata may launch a CNG variant for the Indigo eCS with the facelift.
The Tata Indigo eCS is quite popular with the fleet market due to its roomy interiors and low running costs. This facelift should give it a better chance against some of its chopped boot rivals like the Swift Dzire, Verito CS and the Honda Amaze.
