The facelifted Skoda Yeti will be launched for the Indian market on September 10 and ahead of the launch we have managed to get our hands on the specifications and feature list. The car debuted globally at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show and then after being spotted testing on multiple occasions in India, it was officially unveiled at the 2014 Auto Expo.
The facelifted Skoda Yeti will be offered in India with a single engine option and trim level but two transmission options- 2WD and 4WD. In terms of trim there is only the Elegance option which is common for the 2WD and 4WD variants. This setup is almost similar to the outgoing model.
In terms of external design, the facelifted Yeti’s fascia features a new grille, rectangular-shaped headlight with optional bi-xenons and LED DRLs at the front. The rear gets a revised tailgate and C-shaped tail lamps with optional LEDs. Other cosmetic alterations include reworked bumpers, rear panels, alloy wheels and new side protective mouldings. The cabin has also been revised and now gets new fabric upholstery, decorative trim pieces and a new dashboard.
The feature list has been continued over the from the outgoing model and includes a 2-DIN music system with a touchscreen, dual zone climate control with rear vents, steering mounted audio controls, 12 way adjustable driver seats with 3 memory functions, lumbar support adjustment for the front seats, electric windows and OVRMs, rain sensing wipers and leather upholstery for a majority of the cabin.
On the safety front, the facelifted Yeti gets ABS with EBD, hill hold and hill descent function, ESP, traction control, differential locks (4X4 only), six airbags and Parktronic function. The engine is the 2.0-litre diesel unit that produces 108bhp and 250Nm of torque in the 2WD version and 138bhp and 320Nm of torque in the 4WD version. The former gets a five-speed manual while the latter is being offered with a six-speed manual. They have an ARAI certified fuel efficiency of 17.72kmpl and 17.67kmpl respectively.
The Skoda Yeti is likely to be priced in the range of Rs 16 lakh to Rs 19 lakh and exists in a niche segment at present with almost no competitors.
