Skoda is out and about testing a facelifted version of its C-segment Rapid sedan. Most of the car is sans any covering save for the front where they have taped up the headlights and some part of the grille. In addition to a new face, the car will also get a new feature list along the lines of its sister car, the Volkswagen Vento.
Externally, this revised Rapid will get Skoda’s new moustache grille and sharper headlights, similar to the ones seen on the international spec vehicle. The side profile and rear remain the same as the current car. The feature list will expand to include Mirror Link touchscreen infotainment system with reverse camera option, centre arm rest and dual tone dashboard and seats. Also included in the list will be rain sensing wipers and auto dimming IRVMs.
We expect no changes to the engine and gearbox lineup. This means a 1.6-litre petrol with a five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic. The diesel on the other hand is a 1.5-litre unit producing 103bhp and can be had with a five-speed manual or a seven-speed DSG. Expect a launch later this year with a minor revision in prices.
