Facelifted Maruti Suzuki Ciaz's variants revealed

It's a widely known fact that the facelifted Maruti Suzuki Ciaz will shift to the premium Nexa dealership. In its transition to becoming a Nexa product, the new Ciaz will adopt the Nexa’s variant badging as well, which has been uncovered through the leaked spec sheet.

Currently sold through regular Maruti Suzuki dealerships, the Ciaz variants for petrol trims are – VXi, ZXi whereas the diesel variants are stickered as VDi and ZDi. Once the Ciaz moves to Nexa, it will be available in five trim levels. The Baleno-like variants include – Sigma, Delta, Zeta, and Alpha. Joining it will be an ‘S’ and a Taxi variant, the latter of which we expect would be the lower spec model for fleet market and self-drive services, just like the recently launched Ignis.

Another interesting detail gleaned from the spec sheet is that the automatic transmission will only be available in the petrol variants. However, it won’t be available in the base Sigma trim. Engine wise, the new Ciaz will continue with the current powertrains. So the petrol variant will have the 1.4-litre K-Series engine producing 91bhp, whereas the oil burner will have the tried and tested 1.3-litre DDiS with the mild-hybrid SHVS system producing 89bhp. The five-speed manual transmission will be available as standard.

The move to Nexa for the Ciaz is a result of Maruti Suzuki looking to separate the aspirational value of the premium product. With the Ciaz being a C-Segment sedan it seems like a logical step to move it to premium offering.
