Maruti Suzuki’s flagship sedan, the Ciaz was launched in the year 2014 and ever since then, the manufacturer has been periodically updating the car to keep it looking fresh. However, the sedan is due for an extensive update and the recent shots have confirmed that the Ciaz will, indeed, receive a cosmetic update. Speculations in the auto community also point to a mechanical update.
The spotted car sports a newly designed grille which is inspired by the Suzuki’s family design. The front bumper gets tweaked styling and a sharper air dam. The rear bumper now boasts of a sportier diffuser. Given the updated exterior, we can expect the cabin to receive minor refreshments as well.
There have been speculations that Maruti Suzuki has been working on an in-house 1.5-litre turbo diesel motor and could ditch the long running work horse, the 1.3-litre diesel engine. With a new power source, the manufacturer may offer the option of an AMT (automated transmission) too. However, the standard five-speed manual transmission will continue to be on offer.
When launched, the facelifted Maruti Suzuki Ciaz will give stiff competition to Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Vento and the Skoda Rapid.
