It has just been a year since the Jaguar XJ-R was launched globally and it seems that a facelift is already on its way. A faintly masked test mule of the facelifted Jaguar XJ-R has been spotted undergoing trials near the Nurburgring in Germany. The camouflage was used only at the front and rear which indicates the areas which have been affected by the facelift.
The front of the new XJ-R will get new bumpers with larger intakes. The grille also has been extended outwards and downsized leaving more space for the intake below it. The rear bumpers have also been restyled. All other components on the outside seem to be untouched.
Most of the changes are expected inside the car, with new trim options and the latest version for the infotainment system. The engine is expected to be retained for the XJ-R, which is a 5.0-litre turbocharged unit producing 542bhp and 680Nm of torque. This engine will also be shared with Land Rover in the 2015 Range Rover Sport RS.
The XJ has been one of the most popular cars in Jaguar’s lineup with most of its sales coming from China. The company’s flagship sedan is available in India only in the XJ-L avatar in four variants with two engine options. Prices range from Rs 1.26 crore for the base 3.0 V6 to Rs 1.84 crore for the 5.0 V8. The car competes with other luxury sedans like the new Mercedes-Benz S500, Audi A8L and the BMW 7 Series.
