The facelifted Hyundai Santa Fe has been spied testing outside Chennai by our friends at PowerDrift. The (camouflaged) SUV has already been spotted testing on multiple occasions outside Chennai and is due to be launched within the next few months. It was first unveiled at the 2012 New York Auto Show and was launched for the Chinese market a few months ago.
The Korean automaker’s flagship SUV is based on their storm edge design and is almost a complete departure from its predecessor. Thanks to the design language it now gets a sleeker shape and much more modern design, which should make it more appealing to a younger set of buyers.
The interiors have also embraced the fluidic design and due to the increased proportions, the rear legroom has gone up. The revised features list includes a GPS, leather seats, sunroof as well as a start-stop system for the engine.
The China spec variant is currently offered with two petrol engines; a 2.0-litre and a 2.4-litre producing 189bhp and 245bhp respectively. However, The Indian variant will continue with the 2.2-litre diesel engine which produces 194bhp and 436Nm of torque. The AT/MT options as well as the two-wheel and four-wheel drive options are all expected to remain the same. It is not clear if the India spec Santa Fe will be offered as a five seater or a seven seater.
The facelifted Hyundai Santa Fe, when launched, will compete with the Honda CR-V, Renault Koleos, Nissan X-Trail, Chevrolet Captiva and the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara.
