A facelifted version the Hyundai i10 (MY 2013) has surfaced in Amsterdam. According to the Dutch automotive site Autoweek.nl, the hatchback has mostly received minor cosmetic upgrades on the outside. This is likely to be the last upgrade for the i10 as Hyundai is currently working on a completely new model to be launched in 2014.
Changes to 2013 model include black window frames, blackened front grille and a dark tint on the headlights, other than these, the car is pretty much similar to the outgoing model. The i10 is sold with either a 1.0-litre Kappa petrol engine which produces 69bhp or a 1.2-litre Kappa engine which produces around 85bhp. Prices for the facelifted i10 begin at 8495 Euros (Rs 6.1 lakh) while the more premium air-conditioned i-Drive Cool variant costs 9995 Euros (Rs 7.2 lakh).
The report says the A-segment is one of the most competitive markets and it is likely that Hyundai has introduced this facelift to ensure that the i10 remains competitive. Since Hyundai manufactures the i10 for all its markets at its Chennai plant (CKDs included), we can expect to see the model in the Indian showrooms within the next few months.
As we had said earlier, the i10 is due for a full change and we can expect that Hyundai will unveil the new model by the middle of next year and it will go on sale by the end of 2013. This model is also likely to get Hyundai’s 1.0-litre diesel engine which currently powers the UK spec i20.
